History:
N5199V is a 1944 SNJ-5 Texan, originally delivered to the U.S. Navy. She is one of some 15,000 Texans and Harvards that trained pilots in over 40 countries for decades. Texans trained nearly 250,000 U.S. pilots in World War II. In the late ’60s, while privately owned, our Texan began her air racing career. In 1974, as “Gotcha!” she won the Gold Race at the National Air Races in Reno, Nevada. She subsequently raced for over 30 years for various owners as “Gotcha!”, “Cum’n Thru”, and “Lickety Split”. Finally, after a few years in a museum, she was resurrected as Gotcha!, returning to the Reno races in 2016-2018. The pilot for Gotcha! is retired U.S. Navy Commander Paul “Kid” Miles, a former F-14 pilot and pilot for Southwest Airlines. Gotcha! is owned by the Forgotten Heroes Foundation, where our goal is to teach the next generation about the last, and their extraordinary courage and heroism in the skies of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.
